It's been a busy week, lots of holiday preparations, not much stitching stuff the last few days. I did work in a few stitching sessions in the sewing room before the holiday schedule completely took over.

read moreIt's been one of those weeks where life hasn't gone as expected. My uncle passed after a short illness, he was 87. My mother really wanted to go to the funeral originally scheduled for the 9th, but she has health issues that make an 8 hour road trip difficult. I agreed to take her, but we'd break the trip up over a couple of days. We made the trip from her house to mine on Saturday. Then the aunt who was married to the uncle, was found unresponsive by their son. She passed the next day, so ...

read moreThis is the last to do list for November! With the holidays basically here, my stitching list will really need to get shorter. December is not typically a month with a lot of progress and that's OK. I've had a good year so far. Before getting into this week's abbreviated list, here's how I did with last week's list.
Mid-November has come and gone. Thanksgiving is next week. I'm really not ready for the holiday to ramp up and the year wind down. But as I don't have a choice, it's time to just go with the flow. I've been keeping my to do list's pretty simple and it's paying off with good progress.
It finally feels like autumn here. It's been pretty chilly in the mornings, but warmer in the afternoons. We seem to be done with the highs in the 80s. I'm hoping to get back to my photography walks this week, assuming it stays dry most of the week. Before I get to far into on what else is on the list for this week, here's how I did with last week's to do list.
It's been nice to be home for a stretch. I was able to get some chores done last week that really needed to get done. It's easier to wander off to the sewing room if the house is at least reasonably in order. The sewing room time has been paying off, there was good progress on last week's to do list.

It was worth it, Grad Girl, one of her friends, my sister and I all had a fun girl's weekend. I'll post about that separately. On the progress front, I ended up not doing much that was on the to do list.

read moreIs it really September? Seems like it was the beginning of May just yesterday. Now summer's end is looming. It will be a quick march to the end of the year. But I should slow down and just take it a day at a time.
Summer is still in full force here, though we have a chance for cooler temperatures starting this weekend with increased chances for rain. Of course there will be rain, it's Labor Day. It always seems to rain here for that holiday weekend. We have no special plans for the holiday, but My Guy is taking a couple of days off, so I'm sure we'll end up doing something fun. So I should probably take that into account for this week's To Do List. Before jumping there, I should review how it went with last week's ...
read moreIt's been another hot week, so the sewing room was my favorite place to be. My shoulder issues did require me to minimize my time early in the week, but by the end of the week, I could sew for more than my 15 minutes each day. That made it much easier to tackle the to do list.

read moreWe'll pass mid-August this week. It really does feel like time speeds up as we get closer to the end of the year. Didn't we just pass mid year? How can it already be almost two thirds overs? I should calm down, there is still half of August left, so still time to make lots of progress on my quilting plan.
My Guy is off on a business trip, so I have the house to myself for a few days. I lived alone for many years before we were married, but it feels so weird now. A lot of stitching got done yesterday, but I have other chores to get done today. But there will probably be some later night stitching again tonight.
